Mount Vernon acquires Avondale Trucking

On July 21, 2006, Mount Vernon acquired the assets of Avondale Trucking, the transportation operations of Avondale Mills, Inc. The transaction included the truck terminal in Sylacauga, Alabama, 54 over-the-road tractors ond over 300 trailers (mostly 53 foot). Avondale Trucking is now operating as a division of Smith & Waters, Inc, Mount Vernon's trucking subsidiary. The Avondale Trucking acquisition doubled the size of Mount Vernon's truck fleet, and allows Smith & Waters to substantially expand its external hauling capability in the Southeastern United States and adjacent areas.
